Subham Bose

Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Engineering & Earth Sciences

Research Interest:

My prime research interest lies in understanding the deformation and extrusion mechanisms, and quantification of strain and displacement across major litho-tectonic discontinuities in recent and ancient orogenic belts. This involves an integrated approach using structural geology, micro-tectonics, crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO) studies using the state-of-art EBSD analyses, rheology and metamorphic petrology. These aspects in combination with kinematic vorticity analyses and strain modelling provides detailed insights into the orogenic processes operating in recent and ancient orogens. With these background I am enthusiastic in determining the role of geological features in the effective extraction of geothermal energy. I also look forward to evaluating the reactivation potential and the possible failure mechanisms of faults and fractures under different ambient conditions that has got implications in the context of hazard assessment.
