About The Workshop

Advanced methods for industrial wastewater treatment now combine catalytic, nanotechnological and biobased approaches to tackle the complex mixtures of dyes, heavy metals, organics and emerging contaminants found in modern effluents. This workshop will cover photocatalytic oxidation using engineered metaloxide and carbonbased nanomaterials to degrade recalcitrant organic pollutants while enabling simultaneous energy or resource recovery.

Participants will be introduced to nextgeneration adsorbents and biosorbents derived from functional polymers, nanocomposites and biological wastes for selective removal and concentration of toxic metal ions. Sessions will also highlight nanostructured zinc oxide and related functional materials for multifunctional treatment trains that integrate disinfection, degradation of dissolved contaminants and separation processes. Emphasis will be placed on process intensification, hybrid reactor design (e.g., photocatalytic membranes and advanced oxidation units), and scaleup strategies that reduce sludge generation, energy consumption and overall lifecycle impacts, aligning industrial wastewater management with circulareconomy and sustainability goals.
